Chris Paisley has been selected in the European team of eight to face the United States in the annual Palmer Cup presented by Fisher Capital Partners at Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver, Colorado on 3rd - 5th June.

The 23 year old from Northumberland is the only Englishman in the European team that includes two players each from Italy and Sweden and one each from Germany, the Netherlands and Spain.

It will be Paisley's first appearance in the Palmer Cup which is the annual Ryder Cup-style contest between university students from each continent.

Paisley (photo courtesy of Tom Ward), who is attending the University of Tennessee, has enjoyed considerable success on the American college circuit, while 2008 was his best year on this side of the Atlantic when he won the Czech Amateur Championship and finished runner-up in the English Amateur, the South of England Stroke Play and the Tillman Trophy.

He has also represented Europe in the St Andrews Trophy and the EGU in this year's Jones Cup.

The European team is:
Jorge Campillo (Spain)
Stephen Gross (Germany)
Leonardo Motta (Italy)
Henrik Norlander (Sweden)
Chris Paisley (England)
Andrea Pavan (Italy)
Tim Sluiter (The Netherlands)
Robin Wingardh (Sweden)
