England's Holly Clyburn reaches French final

12th April 2009

England girl international Holly Clyburn has birdied her way into the final of the Cartier Trophy at the French lady junior championship at St Cloud.

The 18-year-old produced three consecutive birdies to close out her semi-final opponent  and now plays Noemi Jiminez Martin of Spain to decide the destination of the trophy.

Holly, from Woodhall Spa, is playing in this event for the first time and she's produced superb golf throughout the matchplay stages – in which every one of her opponents has been Spanish.

In yesterday's first round she defeated Camilla Hedberg Bertrand 7/6. She followed up in this morning's quarter-final with a 4/3 win over Mandy Goyos before beating Joana Yanes 4/2 in the semi-final.

The Cartier Trophy is contested by the leading 16 players, aged 18 and under, who missed out on a place in the championship matchplay.
