England's Hannah Barwood (pictured) bowed out of the Spanish international amateur championship at Pals, Girona, when she was beaten 5/3 in the quarter finals.

Hannah, from Knowle in Gloucestershire, was the sole remaining British player in the championship. She lost to Czech player Klara Spilkova, who won the 2009 European Young Masters by an astonishing 14 shots.

The match was close over the opening holes and Hannah was just one down after  eight. But the Czech player took control when she won the next three holes to go four up after the 11th.  Three halved holes followed before a bogey on the short 15th ended Hannah's hopes.

Klara Spilkova was in turn beaten 4/3 in the semi-final by Sweden's Emma Nilsson,  who plays Nerea Salaverria of Spain in tomorrow's final.

Hannah, 19, is an England international and was the 2008 English champion. She is in the GB&I squad for this year's Curtis Cup team.
