Derby College A team maintained their winning run in the British Schools and Colleges Golf Tour with a fine performance on Wednesday at Northampton County Golf Club.

Sam Flannery (South Beds GC) and Welsh Boy International Greg TIckell (Hallamshire GC) led the way, both returning scores of 71, one over the par on the demanding heathland Church Brampton course.

They were supported by Niall Quinn Jarvis (Scraptoft GC) 73 and Will Painter (Kedleston Park GC) 77 for a Gross total of 292, 5 ahead of Moulton A.

The Derby A Team consisting of six players all part of the PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY player training programme based at Morley Hayes Golf Complex recorded their second victory in the Midland region.

Derby A also won the NET with a total of 285 ahead of Moulton A in 2 nd place on 286.

PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY programme manager Nigel Furniss commented;

"Great performance by the team and in particular Sam, Greg and Niall who were the backbone of the victory. This results cements our position at the top of the league and we now look forward to Round 4 next week at Lingdale Golf Club in Leicestershire."

The format of each event is a team of 6 players represent each college with the best 4 scores from the 6 to count. The leading college earns 6 points, 2 nd place 5 points, 3 rd place 4 points, 4 th place 3 points, 5 th place 2 points and 6 th place 1 point.

Derby College now top the Midland Group of the British Schools and Colleges Golf Tour regional qualification stage, ahead of Moulton, Birmingham and Loughborough colleges.

The next round will see Derby College visit Lingdale Golf Club on Wednesday 21 st November.
