England Golf Rules Schools to be held in Hertfordshire
Tuesday 21st August, 2012

Following the success of previous events, England Golf has announced that it will be running another two County Rules Schools this autumn. Both will take place at Hadley Wood Golf Club in Hertfordshire.

The emphasis will be on practical tuition and demonstrations that will cover some of the most commonly encountered rulings. The Rules Schools will also give delegates the opportunity to put their knowledge and learning to the test through refereeing role-play sessions and by sitting an exam on the Rules of Golf.

England Golf County Rules Schools have been running for two years and have already been to Gloucestershire, Suffolk, Worcestershire, Lancashire, Hampshire, Cheshire and Devon attracting over 250 delegates. Not only have these schools helped to improve the Rules knowledge of all those who attended, many delegates have passed with distinction giving their associated County Unions a potential new source of qualified 'County Referees' to officiate at County championships and tournaments.

"We are delighted to be taking our County Rules School to Hertfordshire for the first time and in particular to Hadley Wood Golf Club. We are aware that counties surrounding London like Hertfordshire, Middlesex and Essex have a strong knowledge base when it comes to Rules of Golf and all have active Tournament Panels" says Toby Thorne, England Golf Deputy Championship Manager.

"Our Rules Schools enable those who are already experienced county referees to gain a qualification that is recognised nationally, whilst also giving opportunity for a wider number of people to improve and further their rules knowledge. A key focus of the County Rules School programme is to provide hands-on experience, guidance and insight into the duties of a referee, which we believe offers the best way of learning and improving performance."

Delegates should have at least a basic understanding of the Rules of Golf before attending. Advice will be given on how to prepare for the exam which is several weeks after the first day of practical tuition.

Dates for the Autumn Rules Schools are :

Day 1: Mon 15th October                   Day 2 (inc. Exam): Mon 26th November
