Girl duo hope to be buzzing for Leighton Buzzard
24th August 2012

A year ago, for the first time, an all-girl team competed in the Junior Champion Club tournament. That won't be the case this weekend but one line-up contains two girls who will battle it out over the Bracken Course at Woodhall Spa on 25 th - 26 th August.

The team from Leighton Buzzard, representing Bedfordshire, will include Charlotte McManus, Louise Eddy and their boy partner Tim Martin.

There is one other team, Stockport, representing Cheshire, who include a girl, namely Erica Sanders, along with Stephen Warhurst and Oliver Brady. They won their county junior title by two Stableford points over their home course.

The junior club champions from almost every county will be on parade in the 36-hole Stableford competition with the best two scores each day from every three-strong team to count.

Bishop's Stortford will be representing Hertfordshire for the first time in the event. Their line-up on William Robinson, Elliott Copping-Jones and Adam Crowther won their county event at Radlett Park by just a single point.

A year ago, Whickham from County Durham (image © Tom Ward) were the runaway winners with an amazing 169 points over two rounds, which represents four cards. Flying the Durham flag this time will be Houghton-le-Spring.

Only one county, Gloucestershire, has triumphed twice in the Junior Champion Club tournament and they will be seeking a hat-trick in the hands of the team from Forest Hills, who competed last year.

Making the long trip up from the south west will be the threesome from Bude and North Cornwall, who include Harry Macauley, winner of the net prize in the Cornish under 14 Championship, but the Brokenhurst Manor line-up, representing Hampshire, Isle of Wight and Channel Islands, are missing the services of Jordan Ainley and Jack Singh Brar, who have withdrawn as they are representing their county in next week's Boys County Finals.
