Irish Youths Amateur Close Championship - 2nd round
30th August 2012

Laytown & Bettystown's Cian Geraghty leads at the halfway point of the Irish Youths Amateur Close Championship at Loughrea, shooting a second round three-under 68 for a halfway total of 140.

He is one stroke clear of NUIM/Stackstown's Sean Carter and Faithlegg's Robin Dawson, both of whom shot second rounds of 72 to add to their opening 68s. They were joined one shot behind the leader by Munster Interprovincial player Ian O'Rourke, who added a 71 to his opening 70.

First round leader Allan Kiernan (Forrest Little) carded a 76 to lie on 144, while Munster Youths champion Eugene Smith (Ardee), Leinster Youths champion Colin Fairweather (Knock) and Ulster Youths champion Steffan O'Hara (Co Sligo) are all on five-over 147 and will be looking for a fast start on the 36-hole final day.
