Legendary Tales from the 19th Hole
Sam Torrance
Published 27 September, £18.99, Hb

I got to know Sam when organising various events on the European Tour and a big Pro-Am in Tobago when most of the then Ryder Cup team, as well as Sweden's most famous sportsman Sven Tumba and other European professionals used to play.

Sam was always special and guaranteed to bring laughter to any situation, now he's gone into print and I'd suggest to anyone to read his book.

He will be at the following book signings and if you're nearby go along - you won't be disapointed

Sam Torrance will be signing copies of

Sam Torrance is one of Britain's best-known and most loved golf personalities. A tour professional for more than four decades, and a winner of 21 European Tour titles, he played in eight consecutive Ryder Cups from 1981 to 1995 and captained the European side to a famous win in 2002. In recent years, his insightful comments and entertaining anecdotes have made him a popular commentator on the BBC and with other media.

In OUT OF BOUNDS Torrance recounts the very best golfing stories gathered from more than 40 years in the game. From the myths and legends that have grown up around certain players, to the lightning quick wit of others, the book is packed with some of the funniest and most outrageous stories that have ever been shared in the 19 th hole.

Torrance takes you behind-the-scenes at the Ryder Cup revealing how the teams let off steam. He recounts tales of the more eccentric and colourful characters on tour, uncovers the best practical jokers, the incidents of temper tantrums and club throwing, and the dangers of playing in pro-ams. There are even tips on dealing with late-night intruders!

OUT OF BOUNDS includes first hand contributions from golf's biggest stars, including Arnold Palmer, Tony Jacklin, Colin Montgomerie and Eamonn Darcy, as well as some from outside golf including Tim Henman and Ian Botham. Combined with Torrance 's unique viewpoint and characteristic wit and insight, it's an unrivalled collection of the most brilliant and hilarious stories - the perfect gift for all golf fans.
