Herts Air Ambulance drops in unexpectedly on Aldwickbury Park Golf Club

April 5, 2013

Aldwickbury Park Golf Club  welcomed some unexpected guests when the Herts Air Ambulance (HAA) made an emergency landing between the 10th  and 18th  fairways.

As chance would have it, the club's chosen captains' charity for 2013 is the HAA and both golfers and staff warmly received the crew in the clubhouse once all were safely on the ground.

After its emergency landing on Aldwickbury Park's 18-hole Park Course - designed by former Ryder Cup star and BBC commentator Ken Brown - the police were called in to ensure both the HAA crew and helicopter were safe, and it wasn't long before they arrived in their own chopper dropped at the Hertfordshire venue as well.

The status quo was quickly re-establised however and as soon as the Herts Air Ambulance received the all clear, both helicopters returned to the skies to resume normal service.

Aldwickbury Park, which is part of BGL Golf, the UK's leading golf course owner and operator, will see the return of the Herts Air Ambulance in July, when the facility is hosting clients and sponsors of the HAA for a special golf taster day.

Andrew Shewbridge, Aldwickbury Park Golf Club General Manager, said: "All visitors are welcome at Aldwickbury Park, no matter how unexpected, although it'll take a lot to top this.

"It's an extraordinary coincidence that this should happen. Of course, the Herts Air Ambulance crew is welcome to drop in at any time and we look forward to seeing the crew again in July."
