Cornwall Golf will be shown in sharp focus with the launch of a new, fortnightly television programme on the Cornwall Channel.

Golf in Cornwall airs for the first time at 10pm on Monday, 18 March on Sky Television channel 212 and Freesat Channel 401.

The 30-minute programmes will be hosted by Simon Wood of the Cornwall Golf Partnership and will show a mix of material designed to attract new golfers and to appeal to established players.

“This is a really exciting opportunity to raise the profile of golf in Cornwall and get more people playing the game,” said Simon, who is the county development officer.

Each programme will feature two golf clubs, offer a round-up of local golf news and include a grassroots section for beginners and returners.

The first programme will provide an introduction to the Cornwall Golf Partnership which works to grow the game in the county by encouraging more people to take up the sport. It will also focus on West Cornwall Golf Club at St Ives - the oldest club in the county - and China Fleet Golf Club at Saltash.

Future programmes will promote Cornwall Golf Week, which takes place from 6-14 April when over 20 golf clubs will offer free taster sessions for beginners.
