Yorkshire's Alison Knowles sets Louisiana-Monroe low record with eight-under 64

Alison Knowles from Mexborough, South Yorkshire, scored her second win on the US college circuit in a matter of weeks.

She is a freshman student at the University of Louisiana Monroe, enjoying a terrific first few months in America.

Alison broke individual low round records for both men and women's golf with her score of 8-under par 64, posted in the second round of the Lady Red Wolf Classic, held in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

The previous individual low round record for the women's team was held by Jennifer Park, who shot a 68 in the 2011 Great Smokies Intercollegiate.

So far this season, Knowles, a sophomore from Mexborough, England, has broken three ULM individual records. During the Lady Red Wolf Classic, Knowles broke the individual 36 hole record with a score of 10-under 134. The previous record, held by Jennifer Park, was a 138 carded in the 2011 Great Smokies Intercollegiate. She also broke the individual 54 hole record when she carded a 4-under 212. The previous individual 54 hole record was a 215, shot by Angela Drane in the 2009 Chris Banister Gamecock Classic.  

The Lady Red Wolf Classic, hosted by Arkansas State, was the second consecutive tournament for Knowles to finish first in individual competition.

She had scores of 70, 64 and 74 for a total of eight-under-par 208 over a 6137yd course with a par of 72. winning by three shots in a field of 35 players.

Louisiana-Monrose won the team title by 14 shots from Western Kentucky with hosts Arkansas State third, 21 shots behind the winners.

LOXLEY, Alabama -- The University of Louisiana-Monroe women's golf team concluded their fall/autumn season with another win, finishing atop the leaderboards in both team and individual competition of the Steelwood Preview, hosted by the University of South Alabama.

This was the third win for the women's team this fall; two of which included wins in both team and individual competition.

After posting a 16-over 304 in the first round of the tournament, the Warhawks shot a 7-over 295 to finish play with a 23-over 599; the team finished 16 strokes ahead of WKU, who carded a 39-over 615 after two rounds.  

ULM had four players finish in the top ten, including Yorkshire-born freshman Alison Knowles, who followed up her record-setting first US college circuit win last month with another outstanding performance, finishing six shots clear of a field of 44 players over only 36 holes.

Knowles finished with a 4-under 140 after posting a 68 in round two. 
Kathy Sterling tied for third place with a 5-over 149, while Angela No and Ines Fendt finished in a four-way tie for tenth with an 11-over 155; Emily Stratton was just two strokes behind with a 13-over 157.

“I am very happy with the way we ended our fall season. We had a pretty remarkable last couple of months with three wins and a runner up. I think the girls are looking forward to the off season to rest and catch up on their studies,” head coach Stacy Snider said
“We will continue to work on becoming stronger both mentally and physically to make a run for the Sun Belt championship this spring.”

The Warhawks will return to action in February at the Le Triomphe Tournament, hosted by McNeese State.
