Marlborough Golf Club revamps facilities

26th February 2013

The community of Marlborough, Wiltshire is today celebrating the news that Marlborough Golf Club has received a £50,000 funding boost from The Hills Group Limited.

The money has been made available through the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) which is administered for Hills by Community First, the Rural Community Council for Wiltshire.

The funds will be used to improve the practice area by installing a new ball distribution and retrieval system. At the same time the Mens' and Ladies' toilets at the Club will be updated and refurbished. Particular attention has been paid to facilities for those who are disabled with the inclusion of a new disabled toilet and the installation of a stair lift. Work starts in the last week of February.

Said Les Trute, General Manager of the Club: ‘The grant is excellent news for members. This year sees the Club celebrate its 125 th anniversary. The new facilities will be in place by the time we run our full anniversary programme. This includes a Mixed Open in May. Early July will see the major event of the Wilts Professional Championship sponsored by Hills. July also sees Opens for Ladies, Seniors and Juniors.'
