The Rainbow Trust Annual Charity Golf Day - August 30th, 2012 April 16, 2012
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. Rainbow Trust's Family Support Workers join the family in their own home and are there to provide practical support. We are contactable 24 hours a day for families in crisis from diagnosis, through treatment and even after bereavement.
This fantastic golf day consists of bacon butties on arrival, followed by a four ball on the beautiful Old Thorns course and concludes with a three course seated meal, prize giving and an evening of entertainment. Rainbow Trust welcomes both corporate teams as well as those made up by individuals. A team of four costs £380 and tee off times are staggered between 11:40am and 1.40pm. This year we would like to welcome extra dinner guests to join your team at £40 per head. Entry forms can be found here.
Old Thorns is a magnificent championship golf course that ranges across the rolling hills of the North Hampshire countryside and offers fantastic views at every turn. Mature trees, natural springs, lakes and testing bunkers give real character to the course which, while kind to the less experienced golfer, holds some surprises for the player who enjoys a challenging round in a classic English landscape. The par 72 course has an illustrious history - plans for its development started in 1976 and came to fruition in 1981 when Peter Alliss, Honorary President of the Club, and Dave Thomas completed the construction of the course they had painstakingly designed. A year later its official inauguration saw Seve Ballesteros, Jack Nicklaus, Isao Aoki and the then reigning Open Champion, Bill Rogers, play a competitive four ball.
Founded in 1986, Rainbow Trust have now supported thousands of families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness. With the help of the families who share their inspirational stories about the difference Rainbow has made to their lives, we have been able to raise our profile and tell more people about the work that we do.
Rainbow Trust relies almost entirely on voluntary donations and through the generosity of our supporters we are able to help around 1,000 families a year.
Note to Event organisers and Golf Clubs: If you are a charity or golf club raising funds through golf, please tell us all about it and we will feature your event here. Pictures from the event are very welcome and we will provide a link to your website or email. If you also have dates and basic details of forthcoming charity golf days, please send these for inclusion in our charity golf day calendar.
