One Up Golf, the UKıs leading mail order golf fashion for women, has announced that it is to sponsor the first ever all Ladies Overseas Pro-Am. Set to take place in Portugal in January 2002, competitors in this inaugural tournament will have the chance to play competitive golf with a Tour professional from the Ladies Evian Tour, led by Suzanne Dickens, and other top lady Professionals in the country.

The Pro-Am is the brainchild of Richard Hudson, professional at Brampton Heath Golf Club in Northampton, which is currently the only UK stockist of One Up Golf apparel. For only £595 per person lady golfers can enter either individually or as a team and will receive seven nights accommodation, five rounds of golf, presentation dinner and some fantastic prizes. Staying at the Ampalius Hotel in Vilamoura, competitors will have a choice of two top-level courses to play and practise on; The Old Course and the Millennium Course. Both courses are demanding as well as providing a stunning countryside backdrop of the surrounding region.

One Up Golf will provide a tournament shirt for all of the entrants from its feminine yet innovative and traditional range, and will also be offering over £1000 worth of amateur prizes and other spot prizes.

Says Sue Binnie, owner, One Up Golf:- "We want to tap into the passion for golf that our customers have. We take great pride in helping to grow the game of ladies golf and tournaments like this allow us to market our products to new audiences."

In its inaugural season the event coordinators hope to attract 20 teams. Currently eleven teams have already signed up, and lady Tour professionals to commit include Suzanne Dickens, Sarah Burnell. Claire Duffy, Sara Foster and Alison Johns.
