England squad selected for Scottish U16 championship

A squad of nine talented youngsters have been selected for the English Women's Golf Association squad for the Scottish U16 open strokeplay championship at Craigielaw on April 9 and 10.

They are: Heidi Baek (Felixstowe Ferry) (pictured), Hayley Davis (Ferndown), Bronte Law (Bramhall) Elizabeth Mallett (Sutton Coldfield Ladies'), Emily Taylor (Royal Lytham & St Annes), Lauren Taylor (Woburn), Brogan Townend (Pleasington), Hannah Turland (Tidworth Garrison) and Jamie-Leigh Voss (Kirby Muxloe).
This event provides the players with an opportunity to gain championship experience and to prepare for the season ahead. England has a good record in the competition and will be aiming for a third successive win in the team event for the Nations Cup.
Two teams have been selected for the Nations Cup. Team one is Heidi Baek, Hayley Davis and Lauren Taylor. Team two is Bronte Law, Hannah Turland and Jamie-Leigh Voss. Heidi and Hannah were both in last year's successful side.
The squad:
Heidi Baek, 15, was the 2007 English U15 champion and a member of last year's winning England team at the girls' Home Internationals.
Hayley Davis,16, is the South-West U15 champion and won both U16 titles at the recent Hacienda del Alamo winter festival in Spain.
Bronte Law, 14, won the 2009 Andalucia Junior European Open and is the Northern girls' champion,
Elizabeth Mallett, 14, won the English U16 schools title when she was 12. Last year she won the Warwickshire and Midlands schools championships.
Emily Taylor, 14, won the Northern girls U14 title as a 12-year-old and was runner-up in last year's English girls' U15 championship.
Lauren Taylor, 14, is the English U15 girls' champion and the English U18 strokeplay titleholder.
Brogan Townend, 14, was fifth in the 2008 English girls' U15 championship and runner-up in the Northern girls' U14s.
Hannah Turland, 14, is the Wiltshire ladies' and girls' champion and a past winner of the English U13 girls' title.
Jamie-Leigh Voss, 15, is the English schools' champion and also holds the Leicestershire ladies' and girls' titles.
