SHIRLEY GOLF COACH IN RUNNING FOR TOP SPORTS AWARD

Shirley golf club's lead professional, Stuart Bottrill, has been shortlisted for one of the UK 's most prestigious sporting titles at this year's UK Coaching Awards, hosted by Sports Coach UK .
The ceremony honours coaches and coaching organisations, who have achieved outstanding success over the past 12 months. The awards will be announced in early December at Old Billingsgate in London , in the presence of some of the most important and influential people in sport and coaching. Previous winners have included Sir Clive Woodward, Sir Bobby Robson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Chalkie White, Sir Alf Ramsey and Jurgen Grobler.

Stuart has been nominated for the Participation Coach of the Year by Dennis Hodgkins, the regional development manager at the English Federation of Disability Sport, for his work in developing a coaching structure for delivering golf introduction and improvers sessions to disabled young people. Dennis explains: �Stuart has been instrumental in co-ordinating golf coaching sessions to well over 1,000 young, disabled golfers across the West Midlands . He has spent a great deal of time mentoring other coaches so that they can be involved and take the programme to an even wider arena. He is also an active member of the West Midlands Junior Disability Golf Forum, which advises and supports the development of the sport for disabled people.�

Stuart's latest project has been the design of a state-of-the-art golf academy; a totally accessible and inclusive venue, which has been presented to the Local Planning Department with the hope of creating a future National Centre for Disability golf and he has been presented with several awards over recent years, including the PGA's Toby Sunderland Award and the npower Midlands Disability Sports Coach of the Year Award.
