A DAY FOR SAM Bigbury Golf Club recently was delighted to stage a benevolent day for their aspiring Junior Sam Edwards.
Members paid £10,00 each to play a four ball team event. Sam was available on the 12 th tee to take your drive if you so wished, for a small fee - of course. Prizes were donated and the day realised over £2,000.00. This was the start of an on-going fund from which Sam will draw to help with his travel and accommodation expenses. Everyone enjoyed the day in an atmosphere of fun and a feeling of involvement in helping a young, talented, personable junior golfer. Sam is a member of the England under 18's team, some of his future fixtures are: Carris 20 - 22 July English Amateur 26 -31 July Boys Home Internationals 3 - 5 August.. British Boys 10 - 15 August. Bigbury Golf Club wishes you Good Luck Sam. HOLE-IN-ONE FOR FAYE Whilst playing at Torquay G.C. in Devon Ladies Past Captains Society, Faye Pannell (Bigbury G.C.) holed out on the103yds par three, with a seven iron. She then went on to win the trophy with 40 points. Faye attributed her success to the helpful instruction "Learn how to become a serious driving force" she had read in the current issue of Woman and Golf the previous evening of the Competition, as she had been having problems getting off the tee.
