LOCKWOOD HEADS QUARTET IN CANADIAN CHALLENGE
Paul Lockwood ( Hessle , Yorkshire), who is enjoying a highly successful season, is one of four players selected to play in the Canadian Junior International Challenge at OslerBrook Golf and Country Club in Ontario on 15th - 17th September. He will be accompanied by Oliver Carr ( Heswall , Cheshire), Jack Heasman ( West Essex , Essex) and Nick Newbold ( Kedleston Park , Derbyshire). Lockwood, 18, runner-up in the Yorkshire Boys Championship, also finished second in the Carris Trophy, represented England in the European Boys Team Championships in Turkey and the Boys Home Internationals and GB&I in the recent Jacques Leglise Trophy in Italy. Carr, 17, is the current Cheshire Boys Champion who finished runner-up in the Fairhaven Trophy earlier this year. He is a former Under 16 international who moved up to a boy cap in this year's Boys Home Internationals. Heasman, who will turn 18 on 22nd September, also made his debut in the Boys Home Internationals having been an Under 16 cap. A quarter finalist in last year's British Boys Championship, in 2010 he has finished tied third in the South East Junior Championship, fifth in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters and seventh in the Lagonda Trophy and the Carris Trophy. Newbold, 17 (picture © Tom Ward), is another former England Under 16 international who was capped in this year's European Boys Team Championships and the Boys Home Internationals. His achievements in 2010 have included fourth place in the Sir Henry Cooper Junior Masters and fifth in the Lagonda Trophy, while he also played from Derbyshire in the recent Boys County Finals. The Canadian Junior International Challenge is a Nations Cup-style event, the best three scores each day to count. There are also prizes for the leading individual performances.
