PAINTER LEADS DERBY COLLEGE TO VICTORY

Will Painter (Kedleston Park GC) lead to Derby College to victory in the recent Inter Collegiate Tour Event played at Wishaw Golf Club on 7 st November.

Painter blew the rest of the field away with a best of the day 2 under 70, whilst all others struggled with the quick greens and windy conditions.

Painter played solid golf, birdying 4 out of the last 6 holes, and needed only 28 putts to beat par on the day.

The team of eight players all part of the PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY player training programme claimed another 1 st place in both Gross and Net, following their victory in round 1 at Mickleover. In the gross they returned a total of 463, 14 shots ahead of Solihull A. In the Net Derby returned 439, 17 ahead of Solihull A on 456.

PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY programme director Nigel Furniss commented;

"The Derby team performed well again at Wishaw to claim 1st place in both and net divisions. A great individual performance from Will Painter who really showed a positive and focused attitude on the course which was a major factor in his score."

The format of the ICT events is a team of 8 players with the best 6 scores from the 8 to count both GROSS and NET. The leading college earns 5 points, 2 nd place 4 points, 3 rd place 3 points, 4 th place 2 points, 5 th place 1 point.

Derby College now top their regional group of both the ICT and ISGA tours in both GROSS and NET divisions.

The next fixture for the ICT is on 28 th November at Stonebridge Golf Club in Warwickshire.
