Staffs "Get into Golf" over Christmas STAFFORDSHIRE COUNTY GOLF PARTNERSHIP CHRISTMAS may be coming - but it is still a good time to give golf a go in Staffordshire. Taster sessions and discounted coaching are on offer at golf clubs across the county as part of the national campaign to encourage more people to take up the sport. The Chase Golf, Health Club & Spa , near Cannock , has a wide range of activities to suit beginners of all ages - and all for free. Free coaching sessions are being offered by PGA professionals Tom Cheetham and Katrina Holford to men, juniors and ladies, with junior classes being open to those as young as four years plus. The junior sessions are on Saturday, December 15 (6pm-7pm) and Saturday, January 19 (2pm-3pm). The ladies classes take place on Monday, January 14 (6pm-7pm) and January 26 (3pm-4pm). Coaching for the men takes place on Friday, January 18 (6.30pm-7.30pm) and January 26 (3pm-4pm). Further details available from the club on 017857 12888. The Chase Golf, Health Club & Spa can be found in Pottal Pool Road, This summer has seen a number of successful schemes at The Chase Golf Academy, including Junior Passport and Go 4 Green for ladies. Facilities include a floodlit driving range, private teaching bay, indoor video analysis, large putting green, short game area and full 18-hole course. Get into golf is a national campaign to inspire new golfers run by the England Golf Partnership through its network of County Golf Partnerships, which work to grow the game. Get into golf opportunities include free or low-cost beginner courses with PGA professionals. They are a fun and sociable way to start golf - and a great way to make new friends.
