Cumbria for a county development officer CUMBRIA COUNTY GOLF PARTNERSHIP The search is on to find the right person to help spearhead the drive to open up the game of golf to more people in Cumbria. The county's Golf Partnership has a vacancy for a county development officer, whose role will be to grow and sustain the sport throughout the area. Working with the county union, association and PGA, the job will include delivering a wide-ranging number of projects aimed at increasing participation in golf for all ages, genders and abilities. The skills required include a good knowledge of golf in general and the administration structure. The successful candidate will have the ability to work autonomously, with written, verbal and IT communication skills, to be highly motivated and have the ability to work with professionals and volunteers. Prior work experience in a leisure/golf related industry and/or the sports development environment is desirable but not essential. The position is home based, although the successful candidate will be required to travel as necessary to attend meetings with weekend, evening and school holidays working as required. The salary is pro rata £17,500 a year based on a flexible three and a half day working week. The fixed term contract runs until March 2013 and is on a self-employed basis.
