Honiton Golf Club has won the GolfMark award, with High Achiever status, for their work to promote junior and beginner-friendly golf.
They have created a fun, enjoyable and welcoming environment for all with regular open events, social activities and beginners' coaching.
PGA club professional Adrian Cave remarked: "We have a great environment at Honiton to welcome anyone to get into golf and GolfMark will give us the impetus to push forward again."
The club's latest Get into golf initiative to attract newcomers to the game took place from Saturday 9th June to 14th July when free, weekly beginners' golf coaching sessions were offered. Contact Adrian on 01404 42943 for more details.
Craig Townsend, the county development officer for the Devon Golf Partnership, said: "Honiton Golf Club has worked hard to improve policies and procedures in coaching, playing, club environment and child protection, thereby developing a sound structure for the future."
The GolfMark award was developed by England Golf to identify and acknowledge golf facilities in England which are junior and beginner friendly. It also integrates Sport England's Clubmark award - a national standard for quality sports clubs recognised across the country. Honiton is the 23rd Devon golf club to win the GolfMark award and the 17th to receive High Achiever status.
The Devon Golf Partnership, which works to grow the game in the county, supports the national GolfMark scheme and the Get into golf campaign which inspires people to take up the game.
