Paul is driving golf in Devon28th November 2013Paul is driving golf in Devon
Paul Cloke has just taken over as the Devon Golf Partnership's County Development Officer. He'll be working with golf clubs and other organisations to help bring more people into the game and keep them playing. Among the initiatives Paul will be promoting is the Get into golf campaign, which inspires more people to play the sport by offering tasters and low-cost coaching opportunities. I'm meeting everyone involved with golf in Devon and looking forward to spreading the message that golf is a great game for everyone who enjoys fresh air, friendship and exercise, said Paul. He's passionate about golf and growing the game with the Devon Golf Partnership which brings together the men's, women's and professionals' organisations. Paul has been a keen golfer since junior days and, for the past nine years, has been golf operations manager at China Fleet Country Club on the Devon/Cornwall border. I decided that a new, exciting challenge was due after having an enjoyable and successful time at China Fleet. I feel that I have a great opportunity to expand on the good work the previous CDO has done, helped by an in-depth knowledge into the day to day challenges golf clubs now face, he said. Paul has a special interest in disability golf and for over a decade has volunteered with the English Blind Golf Association. He's been guide to a successful international who has won the US Open and captained England in a Ryder Cup-style match. Jamie Woodford, England Golf's regional development officer commented: I am sure Paul will be a tremendous asset to the county and the clubs and will continue to help the Devon County Golf Partnership with its aim of developing golf and increasing participation within the county.
