Derby College lead ICT League28th October 2013Will Painter (Kedleston Park GC) led Derby College to victory in the 2nd round of the Inter Collegiate Tour held at Morley Hayes on Wednesday 23 rd October.
Derby College A team moved to the top of the ICT league with some solid performances on a difficult day for golf with strong winds and extremely wet conditions following the recent heavy rain. The Derby A Team consisting of six players all part of the PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY player training programme won both the Gross and Net events with the Derby B Team finishing in 2 nd place in the Net. Painter returned the best score of the day with a one over par 73-2-71 on the demanding Monor Course, with support from Charley Mycock (Buxton High Peak GC) 75-3-72 and Will Davidson (Breadsall Priory GC) 76-2-74, Jordan Barker (Kedleston Park) 80-2-78 & Nathan Lee Ashbourne 80-5-75. In the Derby B Team Jake Conoley (Seascale) 77-5-72 was the best return with 77-5-72 and Alex Harlow (Kedleston Park) 79-5-74. PERFORMANCE GOLF ACADEMY DERBY programme manager Nigel Furniss commented; A great win for the team against tough opposition, Myerscough have over 200 golf students to select from so the guys did really well today. Good performances from Will P, Charley and Will D were pivotal in the result. We look forward to Round 3 of the ICT which will be in the North West as it will be a Myesrscough home fixture. The format of each event is a team of 6 players represent each college with the best 5 scores from the 6 to count. The leading college earns 5 points, 2 nd place 4 points, 3 rd place 3 points, 4 th place 2 points, 5 th place 1 point. Derby College now top Net league in their group and share top spot in the Gross with Myerscough. TEAM LEAGUE GROSS
