Get into golf week to tee off in Sussex16th May 2013Get into golf week to tee off in Sussex
The first South East Golf Week will tee off in Sussex with free taster activities for all at a flagship seaside event. A golf zone will be set up at Hove Lawns on Sunday, May 26 and visitors to the popular seaside location will be invited to tackle a special mini-course, to have a go at putting and to hit balls in an inflatable net, where their prowess will be measured on a launch monitor. The event will launch Golf Week in Sussex and everyone who takes part will also receive information about other free tasters and special coaching offers with PGA professionals in the county. Golf Week, which continues until June 2, is part of the national Get into golf campaign to encourage more people to take up the game. It's being supported locally by the following golf clubs and centres: Chartham Park, Chichester, Cooden Beach, Cottesmore, Cuckfield, Hollingbury Park, Horsham, Lewes, Mid Sussex, Pyecombe, Royal Eastbourne and West Hove. The week is organised locally by the Sussex Golf Partnership, which brings together the men's, women's and professional organisations to grow the game in the county. It's part of a regional festival of golf and will follow the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth when interest in the game will be on a high. County Development Officer Matt Warwick said: We are very excited about Golf Week and our launch event at Hove Lawns. It's a great location and we're looking forward to welcoming visitors and showing them that golf is a great game for everyone who enjoys friendship, fresh air and exercise. It's never been easier to get started and our clubs and driving ranges are waiting to welcome newcomers to the game. This is the perfect time of year to take up golf, so come along and see us and we'll soon get you playing.
