England's Annabel Dimmock Semi-Finalist in Florida24th January 2014Annabel Dimmock, 17-year-old England international from the Wentworth Club, Surrey, has won her way through to the semi-finals of the Jones-Doherty Challenge Cup match-play tournament, the last individual event on the Orange Blossom Tour in Florida.
Annabel, who was runner-up in last week's South Atlantic Amateur Championship (The Sally), is the No 5 seed this week and she beat the No 11 qualifier Connie Isler by 5 and 3 today. Miss Dimmock now plays the No 1 seed, Florida teenager Marisa Messana who beat the No 8 seed Ashley Malinchak by two holes. The other semi-final will feature the No 2 seed, Brittany Fan, conqueror by one hole of former US Curtis Cup player Meghan Stasi - winner of the Harder Hall Invitational at the start of the month - and the No 3 seed, Isabella DiLisio. The last named beat Chloe Rogers (Braintree GC, Essex) by 4 and 3. Chloe, the No 6 seed, won a bronze medal at last summer's Olympic Games in London as a member of the Great Britain women's hockey team.
