The
Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club has been chosen to kick
off a spectacular 24-hour golf extravaganza in aid of the Childrens
Charity SPARKS. Twenty-four
lucky golfing enthusiasts will each attempt to raise 500 pounds
for the charity, which raises funds for research into childrens
illnesses through a variety of sporting events, during a 24 Hour
Midsummer Golf Challenge on 20th June.
Following
the success of last years challenge, SPARKS are offering a select
number of golfers the chance to play some of Scotlands finest courses
and raise money for charity during sponsored golf tour. The players will tee off at the Marriott Dalmahoys
West Course for a fun and challenging round of night-time golf. Participants will negotiate the 9-hole course
using Glowowl glow-in-the-dark golf balls, torches and coloured
light sticks to mark the fairway.
Competition
for the Midsummer Golf Challenge Trophy will then Commence as players
move on to the 18-hole Queens Course at Gleneagles for a round a
day-time golf. The tour
will continue with a round at the Rosemount Golf Club in Blairgowrie,
finishing off at the Murrayshall Golf Course in Perthshire.
A prize-giving dinner will then be held for the exhausted
participants at Murrayshall, where the competition trophy shall
be presented to the winner.
Participants
can enter the challenge, which was filmed for Sky Sports last year,
either as individual golfers or through corporate sponsorship of
a client or celebrity. Alan
Rough, formerly a player for Patrick Thistle and Hibernian football
clubs and selected to play for Scotland on several occasions, will
be participating in this years challenge.
There are also opportunities for corporate sponsorship of
merchandise, golf holes and souvenir brochure.
