CALL FOR ALL GOLFERS TO JOIN YOUR FELLOW
27,500 AMATEUR PUTTERS IN THE
HELP THE AGED UNISYS CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP
There are a
staggering 27,500 amateur golfers, a total of 375 UK golf clubs,
taking part in The Help the Aged Unisys Club Championship 2000.
However, the country�s largest charity golf championship wants all
the remaining club secretaries that have not put forward a formidable
team to register before 1st May with Kath Ellis at Help the Aged,
Events Department on 020 7253 2926. �
In 1999 a record
360 clubs took part and helped raise �50,000 net profit for the
Charity. This year the Championship winner will receive a weekend
break* at a prestigious course worth approximately �200.
Surprise celebrity
golfers will be present at all the eight Regional Finals and at
the National Final at The Belfry on Tuesday 19th September 2000.The
Championship provides a challenging way for golfers to raise money
for older people in the United Kingdom. The continuing support of
Unisys, the Championship�s sponsors, has helped this tournament
raise nearly �400,000 to date. Golf clubs across the country are
running qualifying competitions, in a format of their own choice,
by Sunday 16th July 2000.
Clubs in the
past have organised either an individual competition or have combined
the event with an existing monthly medal. The winner of each club
competition goes forward to one of our eight prestigious Regional
Finals culminating in the National Final at The Belfry on Tuesday
19th September 2000.
The Regional
Finals will take place during July and August 2000 at the following
eight clubs, which have been carefully chosen for their excellent
courses, location and entertainment facilities:

The Help the
Aged Unisys Club Championship aims to raise �55,000 during the year
2000. This money will go towards helping older people live independent
lives, particularly those who are frail or isolated.
The overall
winner will receive:
The winner
and their partner/friend will be going to : A holiday for 2 to stay
at either the Manoir Hotel in Le Touquet or the Hotel Du Parc in
Hardelot, the two top golfing resorts in the North of France. The
holiday will be for 2 nights B&B in a twin room including car ferry
or shuttle crossing, plus one round of golf on one of the resorts
courses. This prize does not encroach the �300 limit for Amateur
status.
