Twins
Lose to Mother and Son
Home
advantage proved decisive as members Carole and Richard Caldwell
beat favourites Samantha
and Johanna Head 2&1 in a tense final to win the 59th Sunningdale
Foursomes in the
club's centenary year.
The
'mother and son' pairing lost the first hole but then took charge,
twice building up a three-hole
cushion against the 27-year-old Head twins who are both members
of the Ladies' European
Tour.
A
par three on the 13th enabled the twins to reduce their deficit
to two holes before a birdie putt
from Richard on the 14th put the Caldwells three ahead again with
only four to play.
Again
the deficit was cut back on the next but Samantha then missed from
five feet on the 16th
to reduce the lead even further and the match ended on the 17th
when her birdie putt slipped
agonisingly past.
