Back New Amateurs' Event
Wilson
have teamed up with the Scottish Tourist Board to stage a new 72-hole
amateur tournament
with the aim of attracting an international field of golfers.
The
Ayrshire Golf Classic will take place between July 10-13, during
the week before the Open,
and is expected to attract entries from Europe and America as well
as the United Kingdom.
Angus
Moir, business director for Wilson Golf, said: "We are delighted
to support an event that
will raise the profile of Ayrshire golf and benefit companies based
there."
The
firm, whose customer services headquarters are based in the region,
will supply prizes for
the tournament and stage demo days for golfers to try their equipment,
including the latest
Fat Shaft clubs and Smart-Core balls.
The
event, to be played under a Stableford format, will be staged at
four courses - the Ailsa at
Turnberry, Barassie, Irvine Bogside and Belleisle - and will involve
teams of four players.
