Golfers tee off the Champion
of Champions Tournament
The
best club golfers in Hampshire will go head-to-head at Old Thorns
Golf Club later this month in the Golf World-Jameson Champion
of Champions event.
The
event takes place on Monday 18th June and is the regional
qualifier for the Golf World-Jameson Champion
Of Champions tournament, where up to 1,000 current club
champions fight it out for the title of best club golfer
in Britain. Taking place at Old Thorns - a beautiful parkland
course in Hampshire, it simply exudes luxury. The same firm that
owns The Old Course Hotel at St Andrews runs the hotel.
"Only
five golfers will get through to the final, at Woodhall Spa, on
August 16-17, so competition will be really
tough, and only the most skilled, most mentally-tuned players will
make it," said Golf World Editor
Steve Prentice.
Golf
World is working with Jameson, 'the number one Irish whiskey', to
create the Champion Of Champions competition because both parties
felt that the UK lacked a high profile competition for traditional
clubs, which is the games heartland. James Slack, Marketing Manager
of Jameson, said "I am looking forward to seeing the very best
club golfers in Scotland competing for a place in the final at Woodhall
Spa in August. Jameson are delighted to be involved with such a
high profile Amateur event - best of luck to all."
The
event will be supported by equipment manufacturers TaylorMade who
will ensure the champions driving is on up to scratch by giving
them the opportunity to test the TaylorMade 300 Series Drivers,
the number
one driver in the professional game .
