Launch
of Golf World - Jameson, Club Champion of Champions
The launch of Golf World - Jameson Club Champion of Champions has
taken place at Stoke Park Club (formerly Stoke Poges Golf Club)
Stoke Poges, Buckinghamshire.
Attending was TaylorMade adidas European Tour player Ian Poulter,
himself a former Club Champion, who helped to launch this prestigious
nation-wide
competition. Ian, the European Tour's Rookie of the Year last season,
won his second tournament over the weekend at the Moroccan Open.
The Club Champion of Champions is open to all current Club Champions,
who
will be entered into 11 regional finals across the UK at some of
the country's leading golf venues, from Celtic Manor on the Welsh
borders to Turnberry in Scotland.
The five finalists from each event will then go through to a two-day
final, gala dinner and final day prize giving at Woodhall Spa on
16th, 17th August.
The whole event is being sponsored by Jameson Whiskey and is being
supported by leading golf equipment manufacturer TaylorMade adidas
Golf, who will hold demo days at each regional event.
"We are delighted that Golf World and Jameson have resurrected this
tournament after a number of years away, as we feel it is a much
needed vehicle to support competitive golf within the club structure.
To this end we offered our support in order to ensure the success
of the tournament and also to allow the champions of 2000 to test
our tour leading range of performance products that could help them
retain their titles in 2001", said Robin Gibson, European Marketing
Manager, TaylorMade adidas Golf.
