Record
Prize Money for Men of Harlech
Wales'
summer of international golf got off to a successful start over
the weekend with the inaugural Wales Senior Open held at the glorious
Royal St. David's Golf Club in Harlech.
Thanks
to the Wales 2009 Ryder Cup Bid, members of the European Seniors
Tour completed for the biggest prize in the Tour's history on the
challenging links course which lies below the dramatic backdop of
Harlech Castle. The tournament was won by England's Denis Durnian
when he closed with a level par 69 to capture the Welsh Seniors
Open title.
The
summer of golf next moves south to the magnificent Royal Porthcawl
GC, home of the WPGA Championship of Europe on 26-29 July. The festival
is rounded off from 9-12 August with the £1 million purse
Celtic Manor Resort Wales Open, which serves as the showcase tournament
for the Welsh Ryder Cup bid.
