The Lexus
European Under 21 Championship, 2001
The 2001 Lexus European
Under 21 Championship will take place from 24-26th October at the impressive
Westin Turnberry Resort, Scotland.
Involving 36 of Europe's
most promising young amateur golfers from over 15 countries, the tournament boasts
past winners such as Sergio Garcia, Nick Dougherty, Kirsty Taylor and Rebecca
Hudson. This exciting event is owned and implemented by the international global
management company, IMG. Building on the success of previous years, the 2001 Lexus
European U21 Championship promises to showcase some of Europe's leading golf talent
and provide an insight into the future of European golf.
For premium car brand Lexus,
sponsoring the Championship provides an excellent synergy with their support of
the Lexus European Golf Cup Final. As Vice President of Sales & Marketing
for Lexus, John Howett comments,
"Lexus is thrilled to
be supporting this year's European U21 Championship. We are deeply committed to
golf and this enables us to increase our support of the sport throughout Europe;
from the professional through the amateur game to the grass-roots level. We are
especially excited to be committing to an area of the game which supports the
young, talented golfers who will one day shape the sport"
Turnberry are delighted
to host the Lexus European Under 21 Championship on the recently opened Kintyre
Course, Stuart Selbie, the General Manager said,
"We are really looking
forward to having these future stars at the Westin Turnberry Resort. We might
even see some of the boys and girls back here competing in future major professional
tournaments."
New British golf apparel
brand YASH is delighted to be the Official Clothing Supplier. Managing Director,
Akash Soni, enthused,
"The founding philosophy
of YASH is to try and support the game of golf at grass root level. YASH intends
to show support of the amateur game by clothing some of Europe's best young golfers
at Turnberry. YASH will be one of the major golf apparel brands of the future
and will achieve this by helping the young stars of today to become the champions
of tomorrow."
Patron of the Under 21s
Final, Colin Montgomerie is especially delighted that his long-term sponsors Lexus
have become title sponsors of the event,
"I wish this event had
been up and running when I was an amateur. I think it gives the youngsters a real
chance to find out where they are in relation to their European counterparts.
It has a distinguished list of winners and I am very much looking forward to the
event."
The official travel partner
of the event is Fairway International Travel who provide travel solutions for
many of Europe's leading golf professionals.
Colin Montgomerie will
be hosting a golf clinic at the European Lexus Under 21 Championships at 5pm on
