MACMILLAN CANCER RELIEF WANTS GOLFERS TO TAKE UP FOUR TIMES IN
A DAY
CHALLENGE.
Whether you enjoy an occasional round of golf at the local course,
or you are a member of the elitist golf club with a handicap to
match the best in the world, Macmillan is asking you to take up
the Longest Day Golf Challenge this summer. Taking place between
the 14th June and 14th July this marathon of golf asks golfers/friends
and work colleagues to play four
rounds of golf in just 24 hours.
Participants will need to have the determination to walk over 20
miles,
play 72 holes and hit more than 300 shots in one day. The four rounds
can
be played individually, with friends or colleagues or as a club
event.
Golfers can raise money through sponsorship from friends, family
and colleagues. Everyone who is game for a laugh is invited to take
part to
help raise money for people living with cancer
Colin Montgomerie is delighted to lend his support to the Challenge
and
Macmillan Cancer Relief as he says "There cannot be many of us who
remain
unaffected by cancer at some time either directly or indirectly,
and I feel
enormous gratitude to those who devote their time doing such vital,
caring
and comforting work"
He encourages those taking part to "...thoroughly enjoy themselves
and in
turn, through the generosity of their sponsors, raise as much as
possible
for this most deserving of causes."
Money raised will help Macmillan face the challenge of funding services
to make the lives of cancer patients and their families easier.
In the UK two in five people will get cancer. By 2015 it is forecast
to double its reach if current trends continue. Driven by these
statistics, Macmillan is working towards the day when everyone will
have equal access to the best information, treatment and care.
