SWING
INTO THE NEW YEAR WITH A BRAND NEW NSPCC GOLF COMPETITION
Following the
success of the NSPCC Ladies Golf Classic, now in its eleventh year,
the NSPCC are launching the new NSPCC Mixed Pairs Classic, offering
a marvellous mix of team golf and sociability.
The NSPCC is
delighted to offer this great new opportunity to golf clubs, giving
their members the chance to play in the qualifying rounds at their
own clubs throughout February to July 2001. The winners of these
will then be invited to attend all expenses paid regional finals
at prestigious venues around the UK during August and September.
Regional winners will attend the Grand Final being held at the magnificent
Forest of Arden in October 2001.
Laura Davies,
event Patron said: "It is great that golfers are being offered
such opportunities. These events give them the chance to play against
other pairs and the opportunity to go through to finals played at
prestigious golf courses whilst helping the NSPCC and CHILDREN 1st
to end cruelty to children"
The Ladies
Classic is played as Betterball Stableford and the Mixed Pairs as
Aggregate Stableford, with clubs required to enter a minimum of
twelve pairs for each competition. The tournament also offers players
the chance to win a fabulous all expenses paid holiday to The US
Masters in April 2002 donated by Specialist Tours.
Last year almost
12,000 contestants from around 400 clubs participated and helped
raise 15,000 for the NSPCC and CHILDREN 1st, the NSPCCs
sister charity in Scotland. This year, with the launch of the new
Mixed Pairs Classic, the combined tournaments aim to raise in excess
of 30,000 for the two charities.
