ONE STARS TEE OFF FOR CHARITY
EMC2
GRAND PRIX DRIVERS GOLF TOURNAMENT 1999
Monday 12th July
On
Monday 12th July, top Formula One personalities will be using their
driving skills to successfully find the narrow confines of Stoke
Poges fairways, having tested them to the limit the day before around
Silverstone's exacting Grand Prix circuit in the 1999 RAC British
Grand Prix. Formula One's elite will be going rapidly down through
the gears to compete at a leisurely pace against each other in a
charity golf fundraiser sponsored by EMC2 Computer Systems.
A
regular fixture for the morning after the Grand Prix, this year's
EMC2 Grand Prix Drivers Golf Tournament will take pale in the beautiful
surrounds of Stoke Poges Golf Course in Buckinghamshire. For the
sixth consecutive year F1 drivers, team managers and television
personalities will devote a day to participate in the fund raising
event, on behalf of the British Brain and Spine Foundation. Fourteen
teams will compete for the trophy, each captained by one of the
celebrity guests.
Since
1994, the number of F1 participants has grown every year and it
has now become an established date on the F1 calendar. The support
for the 1999 event has reached unprecedented levels, promising a
hugely enjoyable day with the inevitable touch of friendly rivalry!
Jordan's Damon Hill was last year's winner and no doubt his F1 rivals
will be trying to steal his crown. Confirmed celebrities to date
this year include:
McLaren's
David Coulthard
Stewart's Jonny Herbert
Jordan's Hienz-Harald Frentzen
Arrow's Pedor de la Rosa
F1 team directors Jackie Stewart and Paul Stewart from Stewart Grand
Prix
F1 team director Eddie Jordan from Jordan Grand Prix

The
close relationship between the Grand Prix drivers and F1's Chief
Medial Advisor, Professor Sid Watkins, enables the British Brain
and Spine Foundation to stage this annual event to raise vital funds
for medical research into neurological disorders. The "Prof"
is one of Britain's foremost brain surgeons and a devoted Patron
of the charity.
