SHELL
AND HOWARD KEEL TEE OFF
FOR THE NSPCC
Some
of the biggest names in sport and show business worldwide will participate
in Europe's premier celebrity golf tournament, the Shell Howard
Keel NSPCC Golf Classic, which is being held at the Mere Golf and
County Club in Cheshire, on 12 September 1999.
Shell
UK is delighted to announce its continued involvement in the tournament
which for years has attracted a large crowd of golf fans and celebrity
spotters from all over the UK who have helped raise more than £500,000
for the NSPCC. This year Shell, though the tournament, will be donating
a further £50,000 to the NSPCC.
There
will be 36 teams participating in the tournament, all captained
by celebrities, including Johnny Mathis, Robert Powell, Jasper Carrott,
Kevin Whately, Dennis Waterman and Howard Keel himself.
Howard
Keel said: "This really is a very special tournament for me.
It is great to see so many people, both celebrity players and the
public, coming to have a fun day. This will be my 13th year at the
event which always seems to provide great entertainment at the same
time as raising money for the NSPCC."
Spectator
entry to the event at the Mere Golf & County Club, Mere, Knutsford,
Cheshire costs just £5 per adult (which includes an official
tournament programme) with children under 14 admitted free. The
first teams will tee of at 8.45am with playing continuing until
around 6.30pm.
