NORMANDY
GOLF INVASION
Around
400 golfers from various parts of the UK will sail for Normandy,
France in October, to take part in SportsAids first ever European
Golf Classic. They aim to raise much needed cash for our Sporting
Stars of the future, whilst playing golf and generally enjoying
themselves.
SportsAid
Regions provides financial assistance to young talented sportspeople,
who will be members of the Sports England World Class Start Programme.
This assists their progress to the potential and performance levels
at which National Lottery funding may be available.
Costing
just £115 per head, teams of four will enjoy return overnight
ferry crossings with cabin accommodation, competition golf on one
of the many superb courses in the Deauville area, a commemorative
item and superb prizes. Those wishing to play more than one round
of golf can do so with golf and overnight hotel accommodation available
at special rates. A number of sporting personalities have already
indicated their interest in playing.
The
sporting potential of young performers has never been fully exploited
in England and the partnership between Sport England and SportsAid
Regions is looking to put this right in the future. A spokesperson
for the SportsAid Regions said: "Our aim is to create more
opportunities for the stars of tomorrow, who in more cases will
go on to represent their country in European, World and Olympic
competition."
Sponsors,
Caddymatic, Edinburgh Crystal and Brittany Ferries are already on
board. If you would like your company to be involved, or are just
interested in participating, ring the Golf Desk at Companies International
Ltd on
