ORIENT-EXPRESS HOTELS
AMATEUR GOLF CHALLENGE
The luxurious
Hotel Quinta do Lago on Portugal's Algarve coast will play host
this November to its fourth annual amateur golf challenge.
Participants
in the 1999 Orient-Express Challenge will put their skills to the
ultimate test over three rounds of 18 holes on the championship
courses surrounding the hotel, including the par 72 (6159m) Pinherios
Altos Course designed by Ronald Fraeam, the par 73 (6331m) Vilamoura
Old Course designed by Frank Pennink and the par 72 (6448m) Quinta
do Lago estate course.
The tournament
will run from 6-12 November, allowing plenty of time for practice
rounds, sessions on the driving ranges, tuition with the hotel's
PGA professional and time off to explore the beautiful Algarve coastline.
This is the
fourth year the tournament has taken place at the hotel and it has
been established as the perfect way for amateur golfers to combine
their passion for golf with a warm winter break. Last year the tournament
was won by Mr Carlo Moraglio from Turin in Italy, who had a 10 handicap
and a winning score of 111 Stableford points over 54 holes.
The cost of
the week is £720 per person sharing a double/twin room and
includes 7 nights in luxurious accommodation, daily buffet breakfast,
meals as specified and participation in the Orient-Express Amateur
Golf Challenge.
