TEIGNMOUTH
GOLF CLUB CHARITY DAY
REGIONAL EVENT IN AID OF NSPCC

Teignmouth
Golf Club celebrates its 75th Anniversary in 1999 and in conjunction
with the NSPCC have decided to stage a Charity Golf Day on Saturday
1 May.
The
club has a charity day each year but in 1999 wishes for the first
time to use a slightly different format and invite entrants from
across the region. A special effort to increase the charitable donations
is being made because of the club's anniversary and also because
the NSPCC is a charity especially close to the Captain's heart.
Teignmouth
is one of the fine courses designed by Dr Alistair MacKenzie before
he created Augusta.The course is
open heathland and a good test of golf. The first tee overlooks
the Teign Estuary and as you progress around the course there are
then wonderful views of Dartmoor. The whole of the back nine overlook
Lyme Bay and on a clear day you can see Portland Bill, which is
some 40 miles away.
The
course is set on the high plateau of Little Haldon some eight hundred
feet above sea level, the cousre is unique and from it, the views
are extensive and breathtaking.
The
first professional at the club was Leslie Drummond who arrived when
the club was formed and stayed for 45 years until retirement in
1978. The current professional is Peter Ward who has represented
Great Britain in the PGA on two occasions in the match against the
USA.

Golf Club are looking for teams of three players to enter this Stableford
event. The entry fee is £75 per team and will include coffee
on arrival, lunch and 2's sweep, as well as free entry to the putting
