Best Golf Wedges for Beginners?

Hey everyone! I’m new to golf and looking to get my first set of wedges. What’s everyone recommend for a beginner? I’ve been hearing a lot about different brands but I don’t know where to start. Any tips?

Welcome to the wonderful world of golf, adkinskimberly! For beginners, I’d recommend starting with Cleveland CBX 2 wedges. They’re super forgiving and have a great feel. Another good option is the Callaway Mack Daddy CB. Both are designed to help with mishits and give you more control. Best of luck!

I second the Cleveland CBX 2 wedges! They’re really user-friendly.

When I first started, I used the Wilson Harmonized Wedges. They’re affordable and quite durable. I still keep them as a backup in my bag!

Does anyone have experience with SM8 wedges from Titleist? I’ve heard they’re good but not sure if they’re beginner-friendly.

They’re fantastic but a bit pricey for a beginner, in my opinion. You might not need that level of performance just yet.

I’ve been playing casually for a couple of years now, and honestly, I started with some no-name brand from Amazon. If you’re just testing the waters, you don’t need to break the bank.

Can’t stress enough how important it is to feel comfortable with your wedges. Borrowing from a friend before buying could help.

Great point! Testing them out can save you some buyer’s remorse.

I’ve heard the Ping Glide 3.0 wedges are versatile and forgiving. Any thoughts?

I use them! Can’t recommend them enough for beginners and experienced players alike.

Any suggestions for budget-friendly wedges that won’t sacrifice too much on performance?

You might want to check out the Tour Edge wedges. They won’t hurt your wallet and are quite reliable.

I went with second-hand wedges. You can find some fantastic deals if you don’t mind a bit of wear and tear.

Titleist Vokey wedges are amazing but I’d suggest waiting until you’re more experienced. Save your money for lessons initially!

My advice is to invest in a fitting session. Knowing the right specifications for your game can make a world of difference, even with more affordable wedges.

Definitely agree on getting fitted. It really transforms your game.

Just a reminder: the best wedge is the one you feel most comfortable with. Don’t be swayed too much by brands.

For those on a tight budget, AmazonBasics golf wedges actually aren’t too bad. I used them for a while and they did the job!

Have you tried any demo days at local stores? Sometimes you can test various brands for free.
