Hey guys, looking to plan the ultimate best buddies golf trip this year. Trying to figure out the best way to coordinate everything - from choosing the destination, booking accommodations and tee times, to budgeting for the whole trip. Any tips or advice from those who’ve planned similar trips before?
This is such a great idea! My buddies and I have done a few of these trips over the years, and they are always a blast. The key is to really plan ahead and get everyone on the same page.
I agree, the camaraderie and friendly competition is what makes these trips so much fun. Where have you guys gone in the past?
Choosing the right destination is key. You want a place that has great golf courses, but also some fun off-course activities for when you’re not playing. I’d suggest looking at places like Myrtle Beach, Pinehurst, or even Scottsdale.
Totally agree with Erin. The destination can make or break the trip. I’d also recommend looking into all-inclusive golf resorts - they take care of the lodging, meals, and tee times, so it makes the planning a lot easier.
Wow, those all-inclusive resorts sound perfect for a best buddies trip. Any recommendations on specific places like that?
Haha, my buddies and I have definitely had some interesting experiences planning these trips over the years. One year we ended up in the middle of nowhere with no cell service, and another time we way overspent on the accommodations. Definitely learn from those mistakes!
Great suggestions so far! I’m really liking the idea of an all-inclusive resort to simplify the planning. Anyone have any experience with Pinehurst or Streamsong in Florida? Those seemed to get good reviews for buddy trips.
I’ve heard amazing things about Pinehurst - the courses there are world-class and the resort has tons of great amenities. Definitely worth looking into for a golf trip.
Couldn’t agree more! My buddies and I went to Pinehurst a few years back and had an absolute blast. The golf was great, but we also loved the nightlife and restaurants on-site.
Hmm, Pinehurst and Streamsong both sound like great options. I’m curious, for those of you who have planned these trips before, what’s the best way to handle the budgeting and payments? Do you split everything evenly or let people pay for their own costs?
My group has always just split everything evenly. It’s just easier that way and avoids any arguments or resentment over who pays for what. We set a total budget upfront and everyone contributes their share. Makes the logistics a lot smoother.
That’s a good point about splitting costs evenly. Avoids any awkwardness or debates. I’d also recommend designating a trip organizer to handle the booking and payments - takes a lot of the stress off the group.
Ooh yes, having a dedicated trip organizer is key. That way one person is keeping track of everything and can provide updates to the group. Takes a lot of the legwork off everyone else.
I don’t know, splitting costs evenly doesn’t seem quite fair to me. What if some people want to play more rounds or stay in nicer accommodations? Shouldn’t they pay a bit more for that?
That’s a fair point. Maybe a hybrid approach where the core trip costs (lodging, some meals, greens fees) are split evenly, but people pay for any add-ons or upgrades individually.
I like that hybrid idea, Erin. Keeps the core costs fair and equitable, but allows for some flexibility if people want to splurge a bit. And definitely having a trip organizer to keep everything on track is clutch.
Haha, my buddies and I have definitely had some interesting experiences planning these trips over the years. I remember one time we ended up in the middle of nowhere with no cell service - that was…an adventure!
Oh man, no cell service in the middle of nowhere? That sounds like a total nightmare for a golf trip! I’m sure the stories from that one are legendary though. Gotta embrace the chaos sometimes!
Haha, I’m sure you’re right, Matthew. Those are the kind of trips that end up becoming the best memories down the line. As long as you have a good group of buddies, the little hiccups just add to the fun.
