Hands at Top of Backswing – Tips for Better Positioning

I’ve been experimenting with hand positions and found that a slightly lower position allowed for a smoother transition into the downswing. Have others had similar experiences?

That’s interesting! I tend to keep my hands higher, but I will try adjusting them based on your experience. Maybe I can improve my consistency.

It’s also worth noting that every golfer has a unique swing style. What’s comfortable and effective for one might not work for another. Keep experimenting!

True! Golf is as much about personal feel as it is about technique. I think that’s why practice is key to finding what works best for you.

One last thing, flexibility plays a huge role in backswings. If you’re too stiff, your hands might not reach the best position naturally. Incorporating some stretching can be beneficial.

Haha, I’ll be the first to admit that my flexibility could use some work! Stretching is definitely on my to-do list now. Thanks for the reminder!

Remember, it’s a journey! Improving your golf game takes time and patience, but focusing on hand positioning can lead to significant gains.

Great topic! Hand positioning at the top of the backswing is crucial. I’ve found that practicing with a mirror helps a lot to spot mistakes.

Absolutely! I also recommend drills using a club upside-down to feel the proper alignment without the pressure of hitting a ball.

I’ve seen some great videos on this! A lot of pros break down their swings showing how they keep their hands in the right spot. Definitely worth checking out!

For those who struggle with this, try the ‘T-Pose’ drill where you hold the club horizontal to the ground at the top of your backswing to find the right position.

That sounds interesting! Do you hold that position for a few seconds or just transition quickly?

It’s definitely a good idea to hold it for a few seconds. It helps solidify the feel of the position before you swing through. I find it really helps my confidence!

I used to think that hand positioning didn’t matter as much until I really focused on it. It changed my entire swing! I now see the importance.

That’s a great realization! It’s amazing how small changes can yield big results.

I like the tip about using props! Sometimes, I use a golf tee under my arms to maintain that distance and ensure I’m not collapsing.

That’s a clever idea! I’ve also heard of sticking a headcover under the arm. It’s all about keeping that space, right?

But let’s be honest, everyone has that one day when they can’t seem to get it right. I swear golf swings have a mind of their own some days!

So true! A good laugh after a rough round is sometimes the best medicine. Keep practicing!
