How Far Do Foam Golf Balls Really Go?

Do foam balls have any benefit over regular balls other than cost? I’ve heard they can be good for beginners to learn the swing motion, but is there anything else they excel at?

Thanks for the tips! I’ll have to give that a try. Keeping them out of the sun makes sense to prevent discoloration.

I’ve used foam balls for indoor practice and they work great for that. But I wouldn’t recommend them for regular outdoor play - the lack of distance and inconsistent performance can be frustrating. Stick to regular balls for the course and save the foam ones for the range or at-home practice.

Great question! In addition to being more affordable, foam balls can be really helpful for beginners to work on their swing mechanics without the fear of losing or damaging expensive balls. The lighter weight and lower speed can make it easier to focus on form.

I’ve found that foam balls can be a nice change of pace, even for more experienced golfers. The lower stakes and novelty factor can make practice sessions more fun and less stressful. Just don’t expect the same performance as real golf balls.

Gotta respectfully disagree with those who say foam balls are only for beginners. I’m a pretty decent golfer and I still use them for indoor practice and for working on my swing. They have their place, even for seasoned players.

Absolutely, Darren. Foam balls can be a valuable tool for golfers of all skill levels, whether it’s for indoor practice, working on mechanics, or just having some fun. The key is understanding their limitations and using them in the right context.
