I’m on the hunt for some public golf courses in Fairfield County, and I could really use some help! Whether you’re a local or just familiar with the area, I’d love to hear your insights.
What I’m Looking For:
Course Ratings: Which courses do you think have the best overall ratings?
Location: Are there any hidden gems or well-known spots?
Amenities: What amenities should I consider? Driving ranges, clubhouses, or food options?
Pricing: What are the average green fees? Any special deals or membership options worth mentioning?
Reviews: Any personal experiences you’d like to share about the courses? I’m especially interested in pace of play and overall experience.
A Few I’ve Heard About:
I’ve heard some mixed reviews about a few of the courses but I’d really appreciate your firsthand accounts. I’m hoping to find a course that’s beginner-friendly but still offers a fun challenge for a good day of golfing.
Feel free to share links to course websites or even your favorite holes if you have any! Looking forward to your recommendations and experiences.
You should definitely check out Fairfield Hills Golf Course. The conditions are usually great, and it offers a nice mix of holes for varying skill levels. I’d rate it 8/10 for overall enjoyment!
I’ve played there too! I love the views on the back nine. If you’re someone who enjoys scenic courses, this one’s a winner. Just don’t get distracted by the sights!
I have to disagree about Fairfield Hills. I found the layout quite challenging - maybe a bit too much for beginners. I’d rate it a 6/10 for difficulty but perhaps 7/10 for views?
What’s everyone’s take on Craig’s Course? I’ve been hearing mixed reviews. Some say it’s a gem for public golf, while others mention poor maintenance lately.
I played there last month, and I must say the conditions were surprisingly good. I’ll give it a solid 7/10. Just be prepared for the occasional slow play on weekends.
I totally get you, rbaker. I’ve experienced slow play there too! But maybe that’s just part of the public course charm? Sometimes it’s fun to have a leisurely game!
Has anyone tried Cedar Point Golf Course? I’ve heard it’s beginner-friendly but perhaps lacks some excitement. I’m curious about the layout and maintenance.
Great point! I’ve noticed that some courses charge extra for weekend play, which can hike up the costs. Maybe try weekday rates if your schedule allows!
I highly recommend checking out Fairchild Wheeler. They have great practice areas and a well-stocked pro shop. The on-site dining is also a nice touch for after a round!
