I play at a public course that has a great mobile app for booking tee times. It’s really easy to see availability and lock in your preferred slot, even on short notice. The convenience factor has been a game-changer for me.
I must be the only one who’s had a less-than-stellar experience at a top public course. The conditions were subpar, and the pace of play was painfully slow. I’m curious to hear if others have had similar frustrations, or if my experience was an outlier.
That’s really disappointing to hear. I’ve generally had great experiences, but I can understand how inconsistent conditions or slow play can really detract from the overall value. Hopefully, that was just an isolated incident.

As someone who’s played a lot of public courses, I can say that the overall value and experience can vary quite a bit. But I’ve found that the best ones really go the extra mile to provide exceptional service and amenities, even at a fraction of the cost of private clubs.
