What are the best golf courses in Detroit?

I’m planning a golf outing in the Detroit area and I’m on the lookout for recommendations on the best golf courses. Whether it’s public or private, I’m interested in hearing about your experiences and any must-play courses.

What to Consider

When thinking about the best golf courses, here are some factors I’d love to get your opinions on:

  • Course Conditions: How well-maintained are the courses?
  • Challenge Level: Are there courses that provide a good challenge for intermediate players?
  • Amenities: What amenities do some of the top courses offer (clubhouses, practice facilities, etc.)?
  • Pricing: Which courses are worth the price if you’re planning a day out?

Favorite Courses?

If you have any personal favorites, please share why they stand out to you. Pictures and course stats would also be appreciated!

I am especially interested in places that are considered hidden gems or local favorites. Any feedback on courses like TPC Michigan, Rackham Golf Course, or others would be extremely helpful.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and recommendations!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’ve played at Oakland Hills Country Club, and it truly lives up to its reputation. The layout is sophisticated, and the conditioning is top-notch. It’s definitely one of the best in the area!

My experience at The Detroit Golf Club was phenomenal! The historic charm and the well-kept greens made every visit enjoyable. Plus, the staff is incredibly friendly!

I’ve heard good things about the Scenic Golf Course. I’m curious about how it compares to Oakland Hills. Anyone been there?

Scenic is lovely! The views are exceptional. Just beware of the busy weekends; you might want to book a tee time in advance.

I’ve also enjoyed playing at Rackham Golf Course. It offers great value for the price, and the community atmosphere is a huge plus.

I love using the range at Rackham too! It’s perfect for warm-ups. What do you all think about the food options at local courses? Any recommendations?

Food at Detroit Golf Club is a highlight! Their clubhouse has a fantastic menu. It’s a great way to unwind after a round.

Is the food at Oakland Hills good as well? I’ve always wanted to try it.

But what about the pace of play at these courses? I’ve heard some can be really slow, especially on weekends.

I’ve experienced slow play at Rackham during peak hours, but it’s manageable. Just go early morning or later in the afternoon.

It’s good to hear that because I plan to play this weekend. Any tips for first-time visitors?

Make sure to pack plenty of snacks and stay hydrated! Also, don’t forget to check the dress code—most places are pretty strict about it.

I think each course has its own personality! I love how Rackham feels like a welcoming neighborhood spot, which is refreshing.

I’ve heard great things about Rackham Golf Course too! It’s public and pretty affordable, plus the greens are in decent shape.

If you’re looking for cost-effective options, I’d recommend checking out the Detroit Golf Club. They offer reasonable public rates and have great facilities.

What about golf memberships? Are there any private courses that have special deals for new members?

That’s a great point! It makes every round feel unique. I just wish more courses had better signage!

You might want to look into the Great Lakes Golf Course. They normally have a membership deal that includes discounts during the weekdays.
