What are the best MI golf courses to check out?

I’m planning a golfing trip to Michigan and want to make sure I hit some of the best courses while I’m there. I’ve heard a lot about some of the stunning layouts and beautiful courses in the state, but I’m looking for recommendations.

Questions to Consider:

  • What are the top public courses?
  • Are there any must-play private courses?
  • What’s the best overall course in your opinion?

Additional Details:

  • I’m looking for a mix of scenic views and challenging play.
  • If you have experiences from specific courses, I’d love to hear about those as well!

I want to make the most out of my time on the greens, so I appreciate any insights you can share. Thanks in advance for your help!

For a great public course in Michigan, check out Arcadia Bluffs. The views are spectacular and the layout is challenging yet fun for all skill levels. Highly recommend it!

I’ve heard Arcadia Bluffs is beautiful! How would you rate its difficulty? I’m a beginner and looking for something enjoyable.

Arcadia can be tough, especially the wind! But it’s also very manageable for new golfers on the right tees. If you’re a beginner, try to play from the forward tees.

If you’re looking for something a bit easier, check out Katke-Cousins Golf Course at Ferris State. It’s a great course for all skill levels and very affordable.

Good call! I played there last summer. The practice facilities are excellent too!

I’d also recommend The Loop at Forest Dunes! It offers a unique reversible layout which makes it incredibly fun. Perfect for a weekend trip!

Wow, reversible layout? That sounds awesome! How does that work? Is it suitable for less experienced players?

Yes, it’s suitable for various skill levels! You can play it one way and then try the opposite the next day. It keeps things fresh and exciting!

I love the variety at The Loop! Just be sure to check conditions since it can be challenging with windy days.

How about some other options? Are there any 9-hole courses that are well-rated for beginners?

Definitely! A lot of local municipal courses have great 9-hole options for beginners. Look into courses like The Green at the University of Michigan!

The Green is a gem! Very user-friendly, plus you can’t beat the price. Great for practicing your short game.

Sounds perfect! Did you find it busy during the weekends?

Yes, it can get crowded on weekends, but the atmosphere is friendly! Just go early to avoid the rush.

Michigan has so many great options. Shouldn’t we be discussing how the winter impacts courses? Some courses close for good!

That’s a valid point, but many places have become year-round now! I mean, golf simulators, anyone? It’s a fun alternative in the off-season!

If you’re looking for hidden gems, check out Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville. The views are stunning and the course is quite well-maintained! It’s a great experience, especially in the fall.

I’ve heard great things about that course! Are the greens challenging?

The greens at Crystal Mountain are definitely a test! However, I recommend checking out Arcadia Bluffs too. It’s a bit more known, but the links-style course offers an unforgettable experience.
