What’s the Deal with Loft of Irons? Need Help Choosing!

So much to consider with loft! I sometimes wonder if it’s more of a mental game with club selection than it is physical. Anyone else feel this way?

Right?! I ended up using my 4-iron for a situation that should’ve been a 5-iron just because I felt more confident with it. Sometimes, it’s all in your head!

When choosing irons, the loft is crucial. More loft means higher shots, but it can also affect distance control. Have you had a fitting session yet? It’s super helpful!

Absolutely! I wish I’d gone for a fitting when I first started. It’s great for matching lofts to your swing speed and style.

I recommend trying different lofts during a fitting. My current set has been a game changer! Just make sure they fit your swing type—it’s not one size fits all.

So true! It’s also important for consistency. Irons with matched lofts make a noticeable difference.

Beginners should focus on forgiveness over loft variations. A good set with proper lofts for your swing will help you develop your skills more confidently!

What set are you using? I’m curious if they are as forgiving as I’ve heard! Lofting can be tricky for us amateurs.

When looking at lofts, consider your playing style. Aggressive swing players might need different lofts compared to smoother swings. What’s your usual style?

I think lofts can often be overrated. Many players just adjust their swing instead of really understanding their iron set’s performance! Just a thought.

I usually play a smooth, controlled swing. I’ve been told I could benefit from a lower loft for better ball flight.

Golf is a funny game! I tried to adjust my lofts once and ended up with a slice that could be heard around the course! Now I just stick to what feels good.
